Info:http://brownsguitarfactory.com/products/Specs: This is a rather rare and totally amazing bass guitar. Built by John Brown at his shop in Minnesota, it's one of his custom "Fretted/Less" 5 strings. The build quality on this instrument is very "alembic-esque" but unlike most Alembics that I have owned and played, this bass isn't just a "one-trick-pony". The EMG pickups and preamp generate a tremendous array of tonal possibilities. The overall sound of this bass is tight and focused with fantastic sustain. The playability is second to none and the neck is very stable. Much more so than any of the other basses I currently own. I can tune this one up and then leave it on a stand in my studio for weeks on end and when I pick it up, it's still in tune. Something you typically only find with graphite necks.Take notice of the two frets on each side of the MOP inlaid "FRETTED/LESS" at the high end of the finger board. Those are there so you can actually slap this bass even though most of the upper octave is fretless. Quite clever if you ask me and it sounds great slapped!Body - Two piece Alder Core with Flame Maple TopNeck - Quartersawn two piece Hard Rock Maple, with two Carbon Fiber reinforcement barsHeadstock - Black face plate, Pearl Medallion with BGF logoFingerboard - Quartersawn Madagascar Ebony, Phenolic fretless section, full two octaves, 16 inch radiusTruss Rod - Dual Action Stainless Steel RodNut - Graphtech nutBridge - ABM - chrome platedTuning Machines - Schaller – chrome platedPickups EMG Soap BarsElectronics - EMG BTC, Independent Neutric locking ¼” Dual Output Jacks.Controls - Volume (Magnetic pickup single/double), BTC control (stacked bass and treble EQ), Mid controls (stacked), Three way toggle pickup selector, Mini switch- slightly pitches mids for thumb slappingFinish Body – Trans-Orange Nitro with Opaque Chic Piano BlackNeck – Modified Oil with Clear Acrylic Urethane Face plate top coatScale - 34 inchesNut Width - 1 1/2"String Spacing - 16.5 mmWeight - Exactly 10 poundsCase - Custom form fittedNo dings or dents with only one tiny chip in the finish at the edge of the bridge by the G string.
