Up for sale, a 1976 Fender Stratocaster Hardtail in excellent condition and in perfect working order. 100% original aside from a professional refret and five-way pickup selector switch (stock three-way also included), this no-nonsense Strat has a thick, powerful tone, with the midrange thickness and snap associated with a solid ash body. At 9lbs 2oz, this Strat has a weight typical of this era of production, and the extra heft does add a certain punch and power to the electrified sound. Outfitted with a trio of original gray bobbin pickups, there's plenty of jangle and snap in the bridge position, with quack and cut in the 2 and 4 positions, and notable woof and thickness from the neck single coil. The string through body and hardtail construction has a decidedly different tone than a trem block equipped Strat, and the acoustic resonance and sustain can't be beat! Professionally setup and strung with 10-46 roundwound strings, this Strat is dialed in and ready for stage and studio work. The neck has a medium C shaped profile that has just enough depth and roundness in the shoulders to feel substantial, while not getting too chunky overall. Cleanly refretted with jumbo fretwire, this Strat currently shows only faint wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-6, with virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The guitar plays very easily up the neck and this Strat is the kind of guitar that wants to be played hard, with a solid feeling maple neck that is arrow straight and reliable. The nut measures a full 1 5/8" and is a hand carved piece of bone that improves the overall sustain and string to string clarity of the instrument. On the headstock, the original Stratocaster logo is present along with the original Fender "F" tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. All of the electronics work as they should, with three original gray bobbin single coil pickups wired to a five-way pickup selector switch. All three pickups have matching 1976 date codes stamped on the bobbins and the stock CTS pots date to the 6th week of 1976. All of the original plastic parts are present as well including the pickguard, pickup covers, knobs, and switch tip. All of the routes are untouched as well. All of the metal hardware is original too, with stock string ferrules, jack cup, hardtail bridge, and three-bolt F neck plate. The F neck plate serial number dates to early '76, which matches with the faintly stamped green digits on the neck heel.Cosmetically, this guitar shows an assortment of small nicks and dings on the body from honest use over the decades, yet retains the original finish on both the body and neck. There is deep horizontal lacquer checking across the entire body, and fainter vertical checking across the headstock face. The ash body has a very prominent grain pattern and the clear coat has yellowed moderately to give the ash a rich ambered appearance.
The original hardshell case is included.
