1968 GIBSON SG Standard Vintage Guitarwith SG Custom Neck.Please read on for full history …I ran a guitar repair shop back in the 1990s and this guitar came to me as a complete guitar minus the headstock .The owner at the time traded it for work I was doing on his guitar. The guitar has a great history, He explained to me this guitar was once owned by guitarist from the iconic Aussie ‘60s and ‘70s pop/rock band "The Masters Apprentices". That’s a good pedigree!The guitar sat in my shop for about 15 years and few years ago I decided to repair the instrument and fit it with a new neck.i always loved the SG custom and decided on fitting it with the Custom Block inlay neck..I acquired genuine Gibson NOS parts for the repair. *The fingerboard is a genuine Gibson NOS part out of the factory. It came complete with Ebony board, MOP Block inlays, frets and binding.*The Head Veneer is also a genuine Gibson NOS part out of the factory that came complete with binding, diamond MOP logo and Gibson script. I then handed the guitar and parts over to Brian West, Guitar Builder and proprietor of "FRETCO " guitar shop here in Adelaide, South Australia.Brian is a Qualified Gibson Repairman, he did an amazing job of shaping a 1968 style neck out of aged Honduras Mahogany and fitted it to the Body.The neck to body join was meticulously shaped to the exact dimensions of the original 1968 neck and fitted to the body into the original mortise ..( I personally think the 1968 neck to body join is the sleekest of all the 60s SGs )The guitar was then painted in original cherry set up and polished at Brian’s shop.I have played it as my pride guitar for the past 3 years but now i regretfully have to sell ..The Guitar is as follows..A Genuine 1968 Gibson SG Standard in Cherry Red.
