Description Brand: Gretsch Series: 6119 Model: Vintage Exact Year: 1964 Body Type: Hollow
Beautiful, original 1964 Gretsch Tennesean with original hard case. A very popular model starting in 1958 and redesigned in 1962. While it remained a single cutaway, it now had a much thinner body and painted-on f-holes. It was now usually a darker cherry red or mahogany color, and rosewood replaced ebony on the neck. Two HiLow'Tron pickups replaced the single FilterTron and new circuitry was added. This became Gretsch's best seller through the 60's and was used by George Harrison. It has been re-introduced as the 'Tennesean Rose' and made in Japan.
This is a slightly used original 1964 model as shown by its serial number 72020. I recently had it re-strung and gone through by Guitar Center and they pronounced it in excellent condition with terrific sound. I bought this from the original owner in 1968. Color is deep and strong with no obvious nicks or marks. A rare chance to own a classic, vintage Gretsch 6119 guitar. Includes original hard case, sales slip, quality control card and Warranty.
