Up for auction is my soon to be 44-year old vintage Gibson Les Paul Goldtop with P-90s and original Gibson hardshell case. Serial Number: 040xxx. Pots date to 1973. This goldtop is the real thing, played by its original owner for most of its life in countless clubs and music venues. This Les Paul not only sings the Blues... but looks the part! The nitrocellulose lacquer finish, due to age and way too many smokey bars, has checked the nitro-finish to perfection... it is what Custom Shop's can only pretend to achieve. I would rate this guitar in "very good" players condition. Only do to a professional headstock repair in the late 70s. The repair has been examined by my luthier who stated it was professionally done and is very stable. Truss rod works fine.          Most recently I have had my luthier do a re-fret on this goldtop using NOS original Gibson fret wire from the 1970s. A new nut was also installed and cut, the truss rod was adjusted, pickup height adjusted, bridge string height adjusted, intonation set with a strobe tuner and a new set of #10 Pure Nickel strings were put on. You will be hard to find a vintage guitar of this age that plays as well as this gold top! The neck is straight and has a very comfortable 70's medium-thin profile with a beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard. Original tuners work very well along with all other original hardware parts. Weight is just about 9lbs.          If you look closely at the pictures, this goldtop and case is really in great condition for its age. The rosewood fretboard has no divots or marks, a small amount of buckle rash on the back side and showing only a reasonable amount of overall marks for its age. Plenty of Nitro checking, yellowing of the binding, chipped knobs and back plate with all hardware being dulled down over time... a true vintage relic. Played acoustically the guitar resonate so much you can feel it... when plugged in she will sustain for ever! The P-90s, I was told, are original Gibson's from either the 70s or 80s... and are beautiful sounding when played clean. When pushed with overdrive... the breakup becomes fat & edgy with that gorgeous Blusey tone only a Les Paul with P-90s can deliver! There is a non-working toggle switch in between the control knobs that could be wired for a phase switch etc. The original hardshell case has the Gibson logo on the top exterior with 5-working latches and handle. The plush purple interior is still in good condition with a working accessory compartment.                                 *** THIS LISTING IS ALSO ON " REVERB.COM "  WITH 25-HD PHOTOS TO SHOW MORE DETAIL OF THIS GOLDTOP BEAUTY. ***
