'69 Reissue Fender Mustang in Old Lake Placid Blue with Matching Headstock and Competition Stripes. Collectors condition. You are looking at Fender’s closest reissue to the guitar Kurt Cobain played in Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' video. Kurt's was Lake Placid Blue (and obviously a lefty) and this is Old Lake Placid blue, but to me it's still pretty much as near as Fender have ever built to that guitar. Even Kurt's LPB signature model by Fender for some reason didn't have a matching headstock... (???) Anyway, Kurt aside, this is a rare vintage specification '69 Reissue. It’s an S- Serial CIJ (2005-06) in OLB with Matching Headstock & Competition Stripes. First, I gotta say, this is the best looking ‘Teen Spirit’ stang I have had. The maple neck on this thing is simply amazing with some killer flame and grain (pics!) It has a very easy action with a beautiful dark dense rosewood fingerboard complimented by a cream 3-ply perloid pickguard. Thankfully the previous owner didn't wanna be Kurt so the guitar is in beautiful collector’s condition. The neck is dead straight, truss rod fine with plenty of life left in the frets. No repairs and the only mod I can find is the factory saddles have been replaced with graphtec saddles. Structurally and electrically perfect. No issues at all. It's been very well cared for and hardly every played. I can’t see any blemishes on the body at all, very rare for this guitar. It looks like it could have come off a 2005 shop floor. Complete with gig bag and correct black handled trem arm. Built immaculately as you'd expect from Fender Japan. A beautiful 1969 vintage specification reissue Mustang with iconic connections to Nirvana. Don’t miss this, they don’t come up very often! No more are of these will ever be being by Fender Japan so now is the time to snap them up.
