Make no mistake this is an extremely high-quality guitar and playability and sound is on par with Suhr or Anderson.
Zion happens to be one of my favorite guitar makers but I actually owned a Zion Ty Tabor model and I believe that this is just a more comfortable and playable guitar. This guitar was handmade right here in the United States and most likely was actually held and played by Ty Tabor himself when they were developing the rgx TT import series. I have an import model rgx TT and I took some of the photos side-by-side so you can see what features worked out for the import model, which were excluded, and which ones were added.
The basics of the guitar are exactly the same Sperzel tuners (hands down the best tuners on the planet) Duncan split rails and the JB Bridge pickup.
High quality Wilkinson tremolo. Better than the one used on the import. I do not have the correct tremolo arm for the guitar (the one in the picture does not fit properly. It has 5 springs on the trem so it is basically a hardtail) and I do not use nor include the tremolo arm that is seen in the pictures. A proper tremolo arm, I'm sure could be easily obtained as it is a recently manufactured Wilkinson. My production model RG xtt (made in Taiwan)is a fantastic guitar but this one far surpasses it in quality and playability. Physically it is in fantastic condition with almost zero fret wear and only minor swirls and pick scratching in the paint that could easily buff out to become virtually unnoticeable. No nicks or dings. The bird's-eye maple neck is extremely smooth and satiny with a nice C contour. The rosewood fingerboard is dark an dense with a very nice grain to it. Frets are medium-jumbos. The guitar weighs 8.2 pounds so is a medium-weight Stratocaster type guitar but hangs very well and feels lighter than and 8.2 pound Stratocaster because of its unique design.
If you're wondering why I am selling this guitar the reason is that I bit off more than I could chew this Christmas and both of my Yamahas regrettably are up for sale. Shipping will be via FedEx and I am not responsible for the eBay shipping calculator's calculations. Inevitably they are far too high or too low and we find ourselves at their mercy. We all need to band together as an eBay community and get eBay to resolve this shipping calculator problem. It scares people away from deals everyday and it requires people to pay excessive shipping costs or take it in the butt, so to speak as a seller.
I will not dupe you on shipping and will only ask that you pay what it costs. I have packed and shipped hundreds of guitars so there is no need to worry about how your item will arrive. Thank you for looking and good luck.
