Up for sale, a 1967 Rickenbacker 450 in excellent condition and in good working order. Well cared for since new, this guitar features its stock Jetglo finish as well as a pair of modern Rickenbacker toaster top pickups and silver Rickenbacker hardshell case. You simply can't beat the chime, sparkle and fullness of the Rickenbacker Toaster pickups and this guitar is a prime example of Rickenbacker's classic 1960's tone! The neck through body construction, hardtail bridge and single compensated aluminum bridge saddle all add up to a Ric that has a surprising amount of sustain and resonance, even when strummed acoustically. Much less common than the twelve string variety, this six string 450 is featherweight at only 6lbs 10oz, and plays extremely well with low action. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action and a fresh set of strings, this Rickenbacker is ready for the stage and studio. The maple neck has a medium C profile, and much of the neck profile's depth is due to the generous depth of the slab rosewood fretboard. The original frets are intact and in great shape, retaining virtually all of their original height, with only faint wear beneath the plain strings down near the nut and virtually no wear up the neck. The original fretboard lacquer is still glossy and smooth and the original nut measures a full 1 5/8" in width.  On the headstock, the plexiglass Rickenbacker logo is in great shape and the original double line Kluson Deluxe tuners are intact, turning smoothly and holding pitch as they should. On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, with original CTS pots and blue molded Ajax tone caps. Both Toaster pickups have strong and balanced output and the pickup height has been adjusted so as to give the best blend in the middle position. These pickups are modern Rickenbacker Toasters which have been customized with shortened factory-spec alnico magnets specifically to accommodate the depth of the original pickup routes while keeping all of the jangle and snap associated with this classic single coil design. The bridge plate has a "GA" stamp, dating the instrument to January of 1967. The bridge has lots of height left for future adjustment and this Rickenbacker plays incredibly well and sounds every bit as good as any vintage Ric we've had in the shop!Cosmetically, the guitar is in fantastic shape, with only light wear to the chrome hardware on the string anchor plate, original pickguard, and modern Rickenbacker knobs. The nitro lacquer Jetglo finish is glossy and rich, showing zero touchups or overspray and 100% original. Under the pickguard the original "450" and "B" hand written notes are legible in the control cavity, denoting the model and factory finish (in this case, B for Black). This instrument is remarkably clean, with only a couple faint finish scratches and nicks on the guitar as a whole. The instrument has been very well cared for over the decades with no breaks, cracks, or repairs of any kind.
A brand new modern Rickenbacker silver tolex hardshell case is included. This heavy duty case has a blue crushed velvet interior and is minty inside and out.
