​This is a really lovely guitar, built incredibly well, and very close to the original that it mimics.
​Two piece solid maple body with a beautiful subtle flame to it; and then slightly recarved and then refinished in cellulose. lovely lacquer cracking and a gentle ageing. Nothing over the top. Just to to give it a bit of character. The original finish while not being bad, just didn't show the guitar to it's full potential. So it all came off, and i started again :)
​The back is actually three pieces of mahogany, but its been very well joined and you'd be forgiven for thinking that it was two pieces. Again stripped back to the wood and refinished in cellulose. Cherry stain, clear lacquer over the top.
​The neck is one piece mahogany, stacked at the heel, with a slightly less clubby feel than a vintage Gibson. Very comfortable neck to play. It's been re fretted at some point in its life, but the frets are in decent shape.
​Celluloid nitrate inlays replace the original plastic ones. Those little details that make all the difference.
None of the electronics have been changed, it just isn't cost effective, and these aren't bad pickups; they're just not boutique ones.
​The hardware i kept original as well as the parts were nicely aged by time. They're chrome rather than nickel, but hey you can change them out if you really want to.
​Replacement knobs from crazy parts, they look a lot nicer than the original ones. The pickup rings are aged replacement ones, not cheap (!!) and the guard and poker chip are reproduction ones- again high quality repro parts not cheap approximates.
​The switchtip and output jack are original and have naturally aged to suit.
​This is a stunning looking guitar and outshines anything you'll find in this price bracket. Indeed you'd have to pay a pretty penny as it were to get anything that looks this good from anyone, so this is a very good price for the original guitar and the countless hours involved in methodically and carefully stripping and re finishing it..
