What a great Christmas present!  What a great way to start the New Year!
  Mosrite Ventures Mark V 1965 German Carve guitar, Serial # B800 which places its manufacture late ’65 or early ‘66, very rare. In beautiful condition with only one small mark on the bottom (perhaps from a guitar stand or setting it on the floor a little too hard).  Almost no play wear, frets are like new, pick guard is excellent++.  Bright work is exceptional, no corrosion/rust.  Body is show quality, no chips, scratches, dents (other than as already noted), a few small dings that do not penetrate the finish and can only be seen on close examination.    No crazing or spider-web cracks in the body.  Neck is tight at the body.   Original case is in excellent condition.   Here is some additional info:
Ventures MK V (shorter length, parallel pickups no pole pieces, no neck binding)
(Identifying characteristics) (built from Aug65 to ?) serial # start at around B700
• German carve body
• Moseley Vibrato
• Standard size parallel pickups without pole pieces. Has Mosrite of California embossed on Pickups (with "R" trademark)
• Volume and Tone knobs are the "hat type" with "M" stamped on top with V and T. 1967 knobs changed again to taller units without the V and T. 
• Shorter in length than a Ventures MK I, same length as MK II 
• Standard MK I style Scratchplate adapted to parallel pickups. 
• truss cover introduced on Headstock (change occurred between serial # B844 - B968)(Known serial# B843 non-truss cover, B968 has truss cover) 
• Ventures endorsement ends, Ventures logo removed. Last Ventures logo MK V serial # falls within B1481 and V1543 (Known serial# B1480 has logo, B1544 non-logo)
• Last known MK V serial is B1675. B1695 is labeled as a Gospel, not MK V.
• Kurt Cobain's MK V / Gospel serial is B1697
• Misc info: Serial # B708 earliest Mk V known. has "M" knobs.
