This listing is for a unique hand-made guitar designed to give a full-scale playing experience in a travel-sized package. My Oakcaster guitars feature hex-bolt neck fixing for quick release and perfect ‘return to playing action’ operation when reassembled. The body is made from a single piece of English air-dried oak. The neck is maple and rosewood with a short headstock and Wilkinson 19:1 tuners for smooth accurate tuning. The pickups are Epiphone Classic Alnico II units and the guitar features a simple wrap around bridge for maximum stability and sustain. The guitar design is a double-cut version of my earlier 'single-cut' Oakcasters. The neck is secured with a single hex bolt / threaded M8 insert for simple assembly / disassembly on location. These guitars have the weight of a regular guitar, the low playing action and tuning stability of a professional instrument and the tone options for live performance wherever you take it; beach, hotel room or party. With the neck off, the guitar fits easily into a medium-sized suitcase where it is virtually indestructible so no worries about damage by baggage handlers and no additional carriage expense. Better yet, I explain what I’m doing every step of the way so that you can learn how to set up a guitar yourself and know what to look for when buying second hand.I believe it’s a MYTH that only expensive guitars are good guitars and it was my aim to demonstrate that a well set-up basic learner guitar will outperform many expensive off-the-hangar brand name guitars.
