What makes this guitar special:  A fabulous player's grade Country Club with that well-played, true vintage look.  The guitar is a bit of an anomaly, as the body appears to be from the mid to late '50s, but the neck is late '60s/early '70s.  It was difficult to read the serial number due to the refin, but the neck date looks like 1971.  However, the body features are from a much earlier period, so we deduced that the neck is probably a replacement.  The refinish is not terribly good, but does appear to have been done quite some time ago.  In fact, this guitar would be a great candidate to have the existing finish stripped & professionally redone.  Regardless, it's a wonderful playing guitar with a warm, rich tone that needs a good home.Cosmetic Condition:  Lots of play wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, finish wear & some cracks in the binding.  There's finish chipping along the center seam on the back of the neck & discoloration / scuff marks throughout the finish.  The guitar has kind of a "beater" look to it, but a cool vibe nonetheless.Neck:  Nicely rounded maple neck with 3-ply binding & red side-dots.  Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl "thumbnail" inlays.  Original frets show some wear, but still have play in them.  3-ply bound headstock with original Grover Imperial tuners.  1 11/16" nut width with zero fret; 25 1/2" scale length.  Neck is straight & truss rod is functioning.Body:  Single-cutaway, hollow maple body with bound F-holes.  "G" cutout tailpiece with Space Control bridge.  Gold plexi pickguard with Gretsch logo.  17" lower bout; 2 1/2" depth.  Guitar weighs 8 lbs 0.3 oz.Pickups:  Original DynaSonic single coils with 4-ply risers.  The pickups sound great, but the wiring & knob controls are a bit funky, meaning they don't function like normal & the guitar could probably use a good re-wiring, but everything is working.Case:  Vintage '50s tweed hardshell case - pretty rough shape, but still serves its purpose well.
