I am selling my 1935/36 MARTIN HANDCRAFT IMPERIAL from my Martin collection. This one and the other Martins I am selling are the last Martins I will be selling. I have many Martins including a Handcraft Committee so I do not necessarily need to keep this one. This horn is all original with all numbers of valves and valve caps matching. All original valves with good compression for their ages. Not the prettiest horn to take to the Ball but it will play at the Ball. This is the reverse tuning slide configuration before Martin used it on the Committees. Serial number is 114-XXX. Horn is 80, yes, 80 years old and has no red rot from what I can tell. I kept it in very good condition but stored. As all horns including new ones, this one may need a valve alignment although I gave it an armature one .a short time ago. The lacquer is obviously worn, but I assure you it is a Handcraft Imperial. All slides and valves move and the valves are bottom sprung. The nickel is also worn but this is truly an old Martin that still plays with a good Martin sound. These horns are becoming extremely rare on the market. You can see the yellow brass in the bell and there are minor dents and some pitting. Comparing horns and sounds is hard to do for professionals yet alone an armature like me, so what I can say is that it has the Martin Imperial sound, although older than most Imperials. This horn can play mellow or whatever style you want. Plays well in both the lower and higher registers. This is one of the most rare Martins. I have just too many horns and do not want to keep this one locked up in my storage closet. Please check the photos to see there is no rust or red rot and the horn is in fair condition for an 80 year old (older than me). I am selling this one to reduce my horn collection. Unfortunately, I cannot just give this horn away, but will definitely consider a descent offers. I will include a non-original case just to protect during shipping. No mouthpiece.
