Here is a vintage (serial number 724596) Conn 6D Double French Horn. This instrument is what is known as a "pre-letter" 6D, since there is no letter preceding the serial number. These horns were built in Conn's Elkhart factory, and are considered to be superior to any horns that were built later. It is in very good condition and plays very well. The valves move well with excellent compression and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of the instrument, there are a few small dings and some very light scratching and etching throughout the horn. All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop, and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This instrument comes with a somewhat worn hardshell case, and a mouthpiece in good condition.
