New Year NO RESERVE Auction!  Guitar will sell regardless of price, so here is your chance to own a really cool piece of vintage Fender Musical Instruments history!Vintage, 1966 Fender Mustang guitar w/ OHSC.  This has an ultra-rare "factory" Orange Sparkle finish.  I use that word in quotes because, as you know (or don't), essentially none of these were "factory".  The common consensus (or knowledge, if you will) is these finishes were available, but they were applied over existing guitars that had already been completed.  They were sourced out to local auto body shops who had the means to apply the flake necessary for sparkle finishes (and the means to clean it up and keep it separate from normal, non-flake finishes!).  I find it to be somewhat interesting a lot of the sparkle finishes you see on old Fenders happen to be on smaller body guitars like the Musicmaster, Duo-Sonic, and Mustang.  I have seen many, many examples.  I've owned several.  They are not all that much alike (well, kind of), and that makes it somewhat difficult to speculate what the true history is concerning vintage sparkle finishes.  I wasn't there, so I can't tell you.  I can tell you these things:- This guitar meets a lot of the criteria for a likely candidate.  It black-lights like an old guitar.  It is undoubtedly old.  The patina is consistent.- The wiring looks old and right, but it's definitely been touched with an iron.  There was some kind of ground wire that has been added, so the wiring has been messed with slightly at some point.  That being said,  you can't take these electronics out and apply a finish without de-soldering something somewhere.  That remains consistent with the reported history of the nature of these finishes.  You can clearly see the original finish under the sparkle paint.- The sparkle is the right sparkle consistent with what was typically (I use that word loosely) seen on these finishes on Fenders in this period.  - Pots and all electronics are original, dating to 1966.Additional photos available by request.  Guitar comes with the original case.  International bidders are welcome, though, no returns will be accepted.  Trusted eBay community member since 1999.
