This is a truly beautiful guitar with utterly amazing sound. (Having once owned a '68 360/12, I think the newer high-gain Rickenbacker pickups sound much better than the vintage, cooler looking "toaster" pickups.)
I bought it from a guy in 2008 who hardly played it and treated it like his baby. Though I've played jams, rehearsals and a few gigs with it, I have also babied it, polishing it with the official Rickenbacker cloth (included & pictured) and getting it professionally set up a couple of years ago, at which time the strings were changed to Ernie Ball mediums for electric 12 string. (Yes, against Rickenbacker's and Roger McGuinn's recommendation that only Rickenbacker strings be used. Mea culpa. :-0) OK. Here's something which may be important to you, or it may not. For the eight years I've owned the guitar, it wasn't all that important to me. The case which accompanies the guitar has a couple of issues:
1) As pictured, one of the case feet ran away at some point. I don't know when it happened. I may have even bought it that way in 2008 without realizing it and not noticed it until recently.  Cases for me have always been a secondary affair. As long as they protect my instrument, that's what counts, and I don't believe I ever tried to set the case up straight without leaning it against a wall. Most of the time it sat flat on the floor.2) The case has an unusual chemical sort of smell. It was much stronger when I got it, but it has dissipated over the years, and the more the case is kept open, the more it continues to dissipate. I recently went to the forums section of the Rickenbacker website, did a “case smell” search and found 20 pages of posts (!) So I know I'm not alone with this phenomenon. It hasn't been a big deal for me, but perhaps some people are more sensitive to the smell than I am. One solution I saw on the forum (and there were more than a few) said to leave it in the sun for one or more days if possible (in my neighborhood, it isn't), and that takes care of it. Some people say that the smell gets on the guitar. I've noticed this somewhat, but with my Rick it's been slight and temporary. The smell goes away after the guitar has sat out of the case on a stand for awhile, and for much of this guitar's life with me, it proudly stood on a guitar stand in my bedroom. (You may agree - it's a beautiful instrument to gaze upon.) More positives: I've noticed that the wood of this guitar has mellowed and deepened in the eight years I've had it, and I'm sure it will continue to deepen the older it gets. It was much closer to white when I bought it at three years of age, and now at eight, it's truly growing into its color designation, Mapleglow.  And of course, as you already know, it sounds like no other 12 string, otherwise you'd be looking elsewhere.
Big, big plus: the guitar doesn't have a mark on it. Original heavy-duty case, booklet, keys, wrenches, and a stereo cable for the Ric-O-Sound jack included. (Ric-O-Sound is the stereo "built in effect" listed in the item specifics section, a fairly standard Rickenbacker feature, though indeed a special effect when it comes to what other guitars have to offer.)Buy it now, or may the best offer win this guitar of the gods!
