Up for sale, a 1996 Rickenbacker 325V59 in exceptional, near mint condition and in perfect working order. This rare and discontinued Rickenbacker model is a faithful reissue of the 325 Capri, decked out with a Bigsby B5 vibrato in the same fashion that John Lennon had modified his 325. A shortscale Rickenbacker model that truly captures the classic jangle and percussive rhythm familiar to any Beatles fan, what perhaps makes this 325V59 stand out most is its unique Fireglo finish. While the vast majority of these models were finished in Jetglo or Mapleglo to satisfy a fervent Lennon following, this is the only example we've ever seen factory finished in Rickenbacker's rich Fireglo finish, fading from an amber center to deep red at the edges of the burst. The instrument is also very easy on the back at only 7lbs 12oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Rickenbacker is dialed in with flatwound strings, optimal intonation, and low action. The maple neck has a medium C shaped profile, and much of the depth of the profile comes from the generous slab rosewood fretboard. The original frets have well rounded crowns and are virtually flawless, with their full factory height. The scale length is 21" as per factory spec for this shortscale model, making it easy to execute chord extensions and navigate the fretboard quite speedily. The nut width measures 1 5/8". On the headstock, the original "Ric Deluxe" tuning machines turn smoothly and the gold lucite Rickenbacker truss rod cover is practically mint. The electronics all function as intended, with an untouched wiring harness and a three-way pickup selector that couples the middle pickup to the neck and bridge for tonal combinations only found on triple pickup models. Cosmetic accents include the double-tiered gold pickguards and large "oven" knobs, and the hardware is all in great shape including the chrome pickup covers and stock six saddle bridge. A very useful and responsive vibrato, the Bigsby B5 is perfect for quick warbles and moderate dives, jumping back to the original pitch with ease. The serial number on the mono jack plate dates the guitar's manufacture to June of 1996.There is very little wear to report on this Rickenbacker, with a glossy and 100% original Fireglo nitro lacquer finish. There is one small nick along the bass side waist of the body, an even smaller mark to the right of the Bigsby on the edge of the top, and a tiny finish chip by the G tuning gear housing as well. Otherwise, there are only a couple extremely faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the lacquer finish on the back of the guitar, and this discontinued model is in remarkable shape and extremely well kept since new.
The original silver tolex hardshell case with blue plush interior is included. This case has clean black leather ends and there is a light ghosting of a previous band name on the edge of the case lid.
