Yamaha SG1966, rare limited release, 1 of 20 (Rarer than SG175 !!)On offer a really rare Yamaha SG, the so-called Yamaha SG1966, Shibuya. This SG, which is even rarer than the SG175,  is one out of only 20 guitars which were made in YAMAHA Shibuya-Japan music shop, which does not exist any more, as a memorial to 20th year anniversary of Yamaha electric guitar making since 1966. Each of these SGs was fully hand crafted and the release was overseen by Yamaha’s technical staff and luthiers. Some pertinent info regarding this rare instrument is described in the also rare book about he the history of the Yamaha SG “Yamaha SG Grafitti” by Shinko Music Mook, 1995. The catalogue list value in 1985/6 was 150,000 Yen the equivalent of £1000 in 1985/86!The SG1966 was made in the spirit of the legendary Yamaha SG-175. The body and the neck is made of high quality mahogy, finger board is made of ebo wood, the binding around the guitar body is made of Mexican Abalone in a high quality finish. The body, is a Flat-top body, like the SG175, with abalone dot shaped position markers. Sound output is great, guitar is kitted out with 2 high output covered hum-bucker (Spinex) pickups; the guitar has a wide tonal variety due to a bi-sound system,  operated with push push coil tapping.Comes with original plush lined hard case and case candy.
