Description
Exact Year: 1965 Model: SG
Brand: Gibson

This is a 1965 Gibson SG Junior. As you can see from the photos, this is a project. Very old head stock crack on this. They did an okay job of putting the veneer back on but it could be better. The bottom 3 frets are also pulled. Im not sure why this was done. The remaining frets are in pretty good shape. There are a few inlays missing and the rest are in various states. This guitar was painted gold at some point in its life and you can see this on the fret board. The binding has also been pulled. There is some chipping on the tone knob hole but no deeper damage. So, I've started with the bad. The fact is that the guitar is in "playable" shape otherwise. No cracks in the body. I sanded the remaining gold off, grain filled it and put 2 coats of lacquer on it ( Ive been restoring guitars as a hobby for almost a decade. I use only VOS Nitro product). Please ask questions. I was planning on bringing this one back to life myself but my wife has set her sights on a new gas range in our kitchen and it is not cheap. Again - please ask questions. I will answer all questions honestly and to the best of my ability. Getting your hands on a mid-1960's piece of wood is getting harder and harder. Grab it while you can.
