Vintage 60's Kustom K-200 Bass GuitarSCROLL DOWN FOR MORE LARGE PHOTOSUp for bids is a fairly rare and cool old bass. This is a Kustom K-200 and it was made in the U.S. in the late 60's. It's a thinline hollowbody model with two great sounding De Armond pickups. At first glance the finish looks original, but since the headstock logo is gone I assume it has been refinished. The color is a light brown see through stain, and the work was very well done. I have several other Kustoms in original see through finishes (one red and two sunburst models) and the finish on this one is nearly identical in quality. Only the missing logo and some small lighter color spots on the edges indicate a refinish in my opinion. It also has the correct amount of playing wear to make me think it's an older refinish. The original owner said the pickguard disintegrated so he made a wooden replacement. Again the work was well done and the wood is nicely shaped and finished. He only made the guard large enough to hold the original knobs and controls, leaving a few exposed screw holes from the original, larger guard. You might get lucky and find an original guard here on Ebay, or now that Eastwood Guitars has started making a modern reproduction on the K-200 you might be able to get one from them. Other than the finish and guard everything looks to be original and the bass is ready to play. The neck is straight with comfortable action and good frets. Both pickups have good output and nice tones. It has a fresh set of flat wounds on it for a mellow sound. The scale length is 30 inches and the nut is a comfortable 1 1/2". The neck is slightly chunky, especially compared to the narrow necks found on 6 string Kustom guitars. It comes with the well padded gig bag you see in the photos. U. S.
