Up for sale is this exceptionally cool 1962 SG Junior in custom color Polaris white. Overall, the guitar is in very good vintage condition. Sonically, the P-90 pick up in the bridge position just roars with harmonic overdrive when pushed through an old tube amp. While the second pick up on the SG special obviously adds some tonal variety, it's hard to improve upon the simplicity and clarity of the P-90 in the bridge position. I've uploaded a quick and short video demo here which demonstrates this: https://youtu.be/mTo2fCQgWXc I'm playing through a 1965 Vox AC-10 cranked through the vibrato channel. The neck sports a typical early 60s Gibson nut width of 1 11/16", providing wide string spacing for comfortable play up and down the neck. The frets show minimal wear with no noticeable issues. The neck profile most closely resembles a medium-D shape neck, with a little more depth and generous shoulders than other early 60s Gibson neck profiles. Another unique feature on the guitar is the distinctive grain and color pattern the fretboard. There is a markedly darker streak curving up and down the treble side of the board, which adds a uniqueness and beauty of this fine vintage instrument. The body itself presents very well, and is especially clean on the top. The original finish blacklights perfectly, and has only yellowed very slightly, allowing the Polaris white custom color to shine in all its glory.  It has a few dings along the edges, but nothing out of the ordinary for a 55-year-old guitar that is not a closet queen. Some of the paint along the edge of the neck near the fretboard has begun to wear away, but in a way that is in keeping with the tasteful, natural relic look of the guitar as a whole. There's also a few small blemishes along the edges of the headstock, but again, nothing that detracts from the overall positive appearance of the guitar. All the electronics are original and work as they should. Both pots look original, although I can only read one date code (the other can be read as well if removed from the guitar). The code comes out to 1346232. This means the potentiometer was made by Mepco/CentraLab, Inc. in the 32nd week of 1962. The neck is straight and plays very well. The frets show very little wear, and the guitar still plays wonderfully even after 50+ years. Structurally speaking the guitar is entirely sound, with no breaks or cracks anywhere. The bridge mounting poles are perfectly intact, and the original wraparound bridge fits in perfectly. The headstock still sports the original single line Kluson tuners. However, it appears that the guitar one time had a different set of tuners on it. The holes have been only slightly enlarged, and it looks like the bushings have been changed. Thankfully, everything is entirely hidden by the vintage set of tuners. The serial number is 7879X, which matches the 1962 date on the pots. All in all an exceptionally cool early 60s SG Junior in a custom color, offering you all of the classic early 60s Gibson magic at a much more affordable price. Unfortunately, the original case is MIA. The guitar will ship in a deluxe padded PRS gig bag and be doubled box for safe travel. Please note: the guitar was not laid on the concrete for the pictures, as I had carefully hidden padding behind the guitar to protect its precious original finish :).   Price is $3299.99.
