Gibson Les Paul Deluxe – Vintage 1975 – Wonderful Player and Gorgeous Condition
Wow.  OMG.  What can I say?  This guitar is so clean, in such great condition.  I honestly don’t see a single scratch, dent, nick, chip, or any buckle rash at all.  If you had the hang tags it could be sold as new old stock.  You won’t believe it when you see how fantastic it is.
Now for the bad news:   This guitar has had a crack at the headstock volute.  It was repaired long ago by, obviously, a master.  With the naked eye you cannot see the repair.  With a hi-power magnifying glass you can see it if you really look hard.  I’ve owned this guitar for 15 years and the repair has been absolutely stable in that time.  The luthier I use said it must have been a minor crack to have been repaired that invisibly.  The neck is straight, action is fabulous, and the guitar plays like a dream.
I cannot guarantee complete originality of this guitar and its parts, as I bought it when it was 29 years old.  However, I do believe it to be all original except as noted below.  Here’s what I believe to be true about this guitar:
• It has had a headstock repair and finish touch up in that area.  Repair is almost indiscernible and completely stable.  No problems with tuning. Finish is perfectly blended to the rest of the neck and body. Probably could have sold it without bringing that up and most people would not have noticed it.
• Also with a magnifying glass, the faint impression of Kluson tuners can be seen.  So, the Grovers are not original.
• Comparing the finish to other mid-70’s LP’s, I do not believe the entire guitar was refinished.  Looking at the pore filler that was used and the sunburst technique, it’s an exact match to Gibson finish of the period and I believe it to be original except the volute repair.  That was done so well that you can’t tell it was repaired or touched up.  Gibson used decals for serial numbers in 75 – 77.  This decal is tinted with the sunburst color, suggesting it may have been part of the touch up - the luthier couldn't remove it, or it would have no serial number.
• Gibson delivered many Deluxe’s in '75 with large full-size humbuckers.  The installation looks original and the markings indicate pickups of the correct manufacturing period.
• Nothing indicates any of the other hardware has been replaced, but I really have no way to know for sure.
The case has some damage on the headstock end – it’s a wood split, right at the crown, where the top of the head end of the lid has separated a little from the ‘rim’ of the lid.  This may explain the volute crack, but I don’t know.  Case is still in overall very good shape and perfectly useable, with no other damage. Crack could be repaired.  It is also the correct case for a ’75 Les Paul, with key and original registration card.  No reason to think it’s not the original case.
In any event, what a great playing and beautiful Les Paul – wonderful dark rosewood fingerboard  - probably Indian.  What a beauty, and  41 years of seasoning and mellow mojo.  It’s a fantastic Les Paul if you want to play it or just look at how cool it is!  Don’t let it get away!  I’d have it priced at least $1000 more if not for the repair.  Returns only if I have misrepresented the guitar in some way.  Shipping to continental USA $49.  NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING.
