What makes this guitar special: A really cool vintage Country Gent with great playability, in nearly original condition! This walnut stained beauty is in awesome shape for its age, with another 50 years of steady playing ahead of it. At some point it must have exhibited the typical binding rot, and the body has been completely rebound. At this time, it appears the original neck binding was colored to match the new body binding. Despite these cosmetic modifications, the guts are all original and it plays with comfort and ease up and down the length of the entire fingerboard. It comes professionally setup by our expert in-house luthier, and will arrive ready to play out of the original factory hard shell case.Cosmetic condition: Great condition for its age, with some expected signs of age. Various light surface and handling scratches throughout, with some light weather checking in a few places, most notably on the headstock. The seam along the back of the neck has a very slight ridge to it, but doesn’t hinder playability. The body of the guitar has been rebound, and the neck binding has been recolored to match. The original pickguard was cracked and then reglued at some point, and that gluing has been fortified with adhesive tape. The pad on the string damper is also a replacement.Body: Double bound semi-hollow maple back and sides in walnut stain finish with simulated black f holes and gold pickguard. Compensated roller bridge with ebony base, string damper, and Bigsby tremolo tailpiece.Weight: 8 lb, 8.5 ozNeck: Nicely rounded maple neck with red side dots and pearl thumbnail inlays. Double bound ebony fingerboard is in terrific shape, and while frets show some wear, they still have a great deal of life left in them considering their age. Zero fret with 1 11/16” nut width, 24 3/4” scale length. Bound headstock with black overlay, pearl Gretsch logo and Chet Atkins Country Gentleman badge. Grover tuners function perfectly. Neck is straight and truss rod is fully functional.Electronics: Original Gretsch FilterTron humbuckers (Neck-4.07K ohms, Bridge-4.05K ohms) with 3-way pickup and tone selector switches, along with standby switch, and G-Arrow knobs, 2x individual volume, 1x master.   Case: Original hard shell case included. Case is in remarkable condition for its age, and is suitable for transport just about anywhere.
