Blue Sparkle Finish! Made In Sweden!
This is really cool. You are looking at a 1962 Goya Standard P90 Sparkle Guitar. The Goya guitars were made in Sweden by Hagstrom. The USA Importer thought the name Hagstrom sounded too "Foreign" for USA buyers that is why they had Hagstrom brand these as Goya. From The Hagstrom Website:
"From a single batch of 177 model 90, and 370 model 80 Hagstrom manufactured the GOYA
version - clearly the same format as the Hagstrom branded models, but just that bit rarer.
with the famous H profile adjustable neck, but somewhat unconventional materials!
Clear acrylic fretboard laid over a pearloid faced mahogany neck. Stainless steel frets.
The Mahogany body with glitter sparkle front and fully covered pearloid back and sides."
Made in Sweden for Goya of New York, the total production was exported to USA.There is conflicting stories about how many Goya's were ever manufactured. I have seen anywhere from 177 to 4000. Whatever the case it is very rare.Mother of Toilet Seat Pearloid finish. Unusual Pick up electronics called a  "Hagstrom Hi-Fi Chassis Unit "Push Button SwitchesButtons in order:
   Solo      (or Lead)
   Acc       (or Rhythm)
LH        (Bridge and Neck pickups together)
   L          (Bridge Pickup)
   H          (Neck Pickup)
   O          (Off)
Plus a little chrome reset button near ACC
Plays and sounds great. Very user friendly!Let's talk about this guitar. The main issue is that someone added Humbuckers and installed 5 pots similar to a Les Paul. The "Hi-Fi Chassis just unbolts so there was not any routing or anything cut out in that part of the body. Where they installed the 5 pots for the volume, tone and coil tap, they did drill holes there. Our luthier was able to remove all of that and put it back to stock. Unfortunately the sparkle finish on the lower right hand side of the body is slightly discolored. (See Picture #1, use zoom feature). The pickguard is missing, and the tuners have been changed. Other than that it is all original.
Our luthier did a complete setup. Brand new strings were installed. Gig ready on Arrival!Nut Width: 1.64"
Cosmetics: Good Condition. Other than the aforementioned finish issue, the P90 is in really good shape. There are some screw holes leftover from replacing the tuners. There are some chips in the pearloid finish where the neck meets the body showing bare wood. (See picture #11). The Rectangular Hard Shell Case has some scuffs, scratches and tears in the tolex. All latches work. Keep in mind that this is a 55 year old vintage guitar. Overall, good shape. Very Authentic. Dripping with "Mojo" It is used. Not perfect. Look at the pictures closely. They will tell the story.
