For Auction:A new handmade baroque oboe after I.W. Kenigsperger, 1720s Bavaria, housed at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Pitched at A = 415-420, this oboe is highly typical of 1720s central Europe, tying it closely with several of baroque period's most important composers for the instrument. It is ideal for enhancing one's understanding of this music music, and makes an excellent choice for oboists new to the baroque oboe, due to its particularly sweet and mellow tone, and because of it's light weight and comfortable hand position relative to other models commonly sold.This particular oboe is made from beautiful bradford pear wood, left unstained to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. It has one genuine buffalo horn mount. In this case, the mount actually extends into the top section of the bore, which increases the durability of the reed well and will guard against cracking and dimensional changes. It also slightly strengthens the tone of the oboe. Keys are hand made from brass in the traditional manner.I have studied the original instrument extensively, and worked closely with leading experts on the baroque oboe to develop these replicas. I make them by hand using traditional tools, methods, and finishes, but with the high standards of the modern performer in mind with respect to reliability, function, and tuning.To see and hear a video demo of a similar instrument performed by myself, To be included with the instrument: -Two reeds and one understaple (a $90 value) -Soft carry case, dark blue linen and burlap, insulated -Care Instructions -Fingering ChartTerms: -I guarantee against cracks and other defects (not wear and tear or accidental damage) for a period 5 years.
