Up for a Buy It Now or B/O is a STUNNING example of a 1969 (I think) Ovation Thunderhead vintage electric guitar, s/n B 402. This was the top of the line in Ovations 1st foray in to the electric guitar market, and in some aspects well ahead of its time!! This guitar is in excellent +++ condition, and considering its age as close to mint as a used guitar can be! It is made of the nicest curly flame maple I have ever seen on one of these killer flame at any angle on the entire back, and the rims of the body!! This one is  also finished in the most desirable color for one of these, its original unfaded cherry red. The finish is beautiful, there are some lacquer check marks on the top, and some tiny dings here and there, but it is as fresh and new looking as can be. The neck is laser straight with zero wear to its original frets or pearl inlayed ebony fingerboard. The gold plating on the original Schaller tuners looks new, and they function as new. The electronics all function perfectly and the original  DeArmond pickups in this guitar sound awesome. The original Schaller made bridge functions awesome and is in excellent condition and still retains its removable cover. I purchased this guitar from the original owners estate (now deceased) and the bridge and trem were removed from the guitar, I assume to clean it, as apparently the guy did not play guitar! Anyway, the treble side bridge height adjuster and the bracket that holds the trem on to the guitar went missing, so those 2 parts are not original, but I would say everything else is. When making a new bracket for the trem, I used a chrome plated Epi frequensator type, which believe it or not, the mounting holes lined up to the originals, so NO extra holes or chenged holes ANYWHERE on the guitar. The Schaller trem works amazingly smooth, as good as a well set up USA made Bigsby. This guitar stays in tune. It plays amazing with low fast action. These are very underrated guitars!!!  The guitar was just set up with Gibson 10-46 strings with the red silk windings at the ball ends (these are the best strings for Bigsby trem style guitars) and comes in its excellent +++ to near mint original hard case that looks to me  like it was made by Lifton and the same as a Gibson ES335 style case!! Please look at all the pics and ask any questions you may have. If you need to see more pics, let me know of what. Shipping will always be combined when possible!
