For sale is a 1984 Gibson Les Paul Studio in excellent working order. The previous owner obviously only played open chords, so my luthier suggested it would be easier to put in three new frets rather than file down all 22. With the newer frets in the open chord region, this guitar should be ready to rock for decades to come. This guitar weighs a little over 8 lbs and has one stamped Tim Shaw PAF "Shawbucker" in the bridge position. The other pickup gives a similar reading and for all intent & purposes sounds like the same pickup. The bottom looks different. This pickup bezel has been changed to a newer one(someone offered very good money for  the original, so it was removed). To my untrained eye, the wiring looks stock. The guitar serial number dates it to late 1984, but the electronics & one pickup look to be from 1985 so who knows). Body is mahogany while the neck looks to be maple. The usual woods for this era of LP Studio are alder for the body & maple for the neck, so it is unusual for it to be a mahogany body. Body has an 1/8" less depth than a stock LP Custom or Standard. This one is without any binding or frills. No neck cracks or splits. Some worming on the back of the body with some finish cracks on the top. Overall, this would be a player's grade guitar. With that being said, it is an excellent playing guitar with a sharp focused sound. The guitar has been set up with .10-.46 D'addario XL strings and will be shipped in a newer Gibson branded case(looks like a TKL made case). Other than that, this guitar is being sold as is with no returns.
