KILLER KILLER KILLER For the discerning collector and 59 Les Paul fan comes “Goldie” as found on the front cover the book Burst Believers II by Vic Dapra. Now this folks is a very rare and very special guitar that was part of a run of Goldie made for the Japanese market only that were painted and aged by Tom Murphy. This 2016 Gibson 59 Les Paul “Goldie” was a collaboration between Tom Murphy, Edwin Wilson, Yasuhiko Iwande, and long time well known Burst collector Vic DaPra. The top for this guitar was hand selected by Edwin Wilson and Yasuhiko Iwande and painted and aged by Burst Master Tom Murphy for the top dealers in Japan only. Edwin Wilson is the Historic Program Director at the Gibson Custom and Yasuhiko Iwande is the author of The Beauty Of The Burst book. Tom Murphy needs no introduction and is thee authority on the 59 Bursts. The guitar was signed by Tom Murphy and his initials are in the control cavity under the lacquer. Also look at the point of the guitar pick in photo 13 Murphy scribed his initials TM in the aging.This guitar has all 2016 True Historic specs and comes with a signed copy of Burst Believers II by Vic Dapra and a special “Hand Select” brochure describing the run and the guitar is also signed by Tom Murphy. These are not available in the USA and made for the top Japanese dealer only. This version of Goldie is even better than the Collectors Choice version of because these are painted and aged by Tom Murphy plus they are True Historic's and the Collectors Choice version was not making these a much more closer in spec to the original. Having sold three of these marvelous guitars already I had to jump through hoops to get a 4th one and the wait was well worth it and this is the very last one available. It is ultra light and has a prefect neck and tone. These guitars are Tom Murphy and Gibson’s Custom’s finest work and quite simply the closest you can get to a real 59 Les Paul.Just when you didn’t think Gibson Custom Shop and Tom Murphy couldn’t build a anything closer to an “original” 59 Burst they come up with this Murphy PAINTED AND AGED 59 TRUE HISTORIC SPEC 59 Les Paul “Goldie”. The figure and color looks so deep and lush like you could jump in it. There were only 18 guitars built in this small run for the top dealers in Japan only and they were instantly sold out as soon as they were announced. Each guitar features a Lemon Burst finish painted and aged by Tom Murphy as stated on the COA. They also feature a hand picked selected top by Edwin Wilson making this quite simply the closest 59 Les Paul reissue Gibson has ever built to an original burst.
Tom Murphy has never painted and aged a replica of “Goldie” ever before for making these guitars the most authentic, rarest and accurate 59 reissue that Gibson Custom has done in the history of the company. There were only 18 guitars in this run built for at the request of the top select dealers in Japan only and these are very rare guitars. Murphy has either painted or aged guitars for Gibson but never did both because of the time it takes to paint and age a guitar. At the request of the of the top dealers in Japan the fine folks at Gibson Custom finally made it happen and its been over a decade in the making. This project began back in 2003 when I asked Gibson Custom to build a guitar that was painted and aged by Tom Murphy. Gibson always told me they wouldn’t do it because it would take Murphy too long to paint and age a guitar.
