If you want a Vintage Leo Fender guitar for little money this could be it. It may not have Fender on the headstock but these were designed by the old team of Leo and George. Launched in 1980 the F100 instruments were the first G&L designs to be produced by the new company.  There were quite a few variations on the F-100. The F-100-I and F-100-II (sometimes called the “first series” and “second series”) had different fingerboard radii (71/2″ or 12″), an option Leo developed at Music Man. There was also an active and passive version, hard tail and trem versions to, so a lot of options. This is an early all original (apart from trem bar) G&L F100 from 1981-82 when Leo was firmly at the helm. Pot codes date to 1980 and 1981 along with the neck date. There is a hard to read body date that looks like it may be 1982 and that tallies with the serial number G010371 that according to G&L dates to 1982. This is the more desirable non active version and series II giving a 7.5" radius fretboard. Few dings and marks to the body but nothing troublesome. Nice checking to the body. Original frets have been dressed but still plenty of life left in them. It is missing the original trem bar but I expect these can be picked up if you need one. The pickups are the then new Magnetic Field Design humbucking pickups with two rows of adjustable hexagon-shaped pole pieces and ceramic magnets. It has the standard three-way selector plus a phase switch that threw the pickups into a combination out-of-phase middle position. All F 100's became active in 1983 so the passive version like this one is rarer and harder to find.
