Description
Model: SG Brand: Gibson
Exact Year: 1968 Series: Original

This Gibson SG, serial number 520526, was built in 1968. I bought it 30 years ago from a co-worker who played this guitar in a country-western band. He also played a Strat and needed rent money so he sold it to me. The SG has the original P-90 pickups. It was in a fire at this dude's trailer so he stripped the original finish and later changed the tuning machines. I recently took this guitar to Mr. Mark's Music in Anoka, MN where he replaced the frets and improved the action. The neck is perfectly straight according to the tech at Mr. Mark's. This is a light and fast guitar.I am selling it for two reasons: 1.) I have been playing my acoustic guitar more and have settled in on that sound and feel with easy open chords; 2.) I have fat fingers and the SG may be better suited for players with more accuracy and dexterity.A friend of mine hosted a music day in his shop this summer and I brought this SG to the gig. While the musicians were getting started at the sound check, I asked the lead guitarist if he would play something on it. (He is a Fender guy so you never know!) He tuned it down and played some slide. Later he told me he liked playing it and I should take care of it well.Buyers for vintage guitars know their stuff. A like-new one of these with original P-90s and finish would go for over $5,000. Even those not in playing condition could go for $2,000. Given how well this SG plays but also its condition vs. the original, a fair price is being asked. Includes the original soft case, which is not in all that great condition but it's amazing it is still around!  Act fast if you want this in your collection.
