This one is from 1961 and like our 1959 it has been played, probably a bit more then the '59 but again for a very good reason...Nice thick slab of rosewood that has not been planed or sanded. All original finish, hardware, electrics and even frets which are in fairly good condition with a decent amount of meat left.This one has a lot of character and seems to want to play itself in some ways. All three original pickups are strong and evenly balanced with classic pre-CBS black bottom tone to die for.It has a fair amount of honest play wear which you just cannot emulate by Custom Shop methods and a great feel to it. Like the 1959 we have, this one also has a good weight of 3.4Kg.The pickguard has the usual crack by the neck pickup due to shrinkage and the tip broken off BUT luckily, the tip plus the extra screw to hold it, is included in a little bag in the case pocket so it can be glued back on if you wish. You don't often see that..!Neck date of 11/61, body date of 6/61, all 3 pots are dated 4th week of 61 and serial number is 60377.A total classic that just.... looks damm right too!
