We've been hearing from you for a few years now that you'd love to see us carrying Suhr guitars. Well, we've listened! The Suhr Modern series of guitars are designed for... well, you guessed it... the modern day player who's not afraid to deviate from the vintage tones of old. This is an extra special build that Suhr did for NAMM 2017 and we had to scoop it up. Not to worry, Suhr had their exhibition guitars secured to their stands so others could not play them. So this is still in the same condition in which it left the Suhr factory - immaculate. The custom purple gradient color is beautiful and reminiscent of watching the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean on the beaches of southern California. The purple back is a nice touch, too. As soon as you pull this out of the deluxe brown leather hardshell case, you'll be turning heads with this beauty. Plug it in and start playing, and you'll really leave everyone completely floored. The SSV and SSH Plus pickups sound amazing! They're hot enough to push the front end of an amp hard, but can also be mellowed out for warmer and more vintage tones. Overall though, this guitar is a race car. The neck plays super fast and the tone just makes you want to shred up and down the neck. The Gotoh Floyd bridge will guarantee that you can wail away on the trem as much as you want and your intonation will remain spot on. It's also recessed into the body to allow for incredibly low action and effortless playing. The Pau Ferro board gives you a bit more brightness than rosewood without scooping out too much of your mids like maple can tend to do. This counteracts the naturally bright and mid-scooped maple neck to add just a little bit of mid-range back into the natural sound of the guitar. It's just the right amount to keep your notes clear and defined even when saturated with heavy distortion. Before even looking at the guitar, and just from seeing the spec sheet of it, we knew we had to have this in our shop. The tonewood choices, hardware choices, and electronics all pair together so well on paper. Plugging the guitar in only reaffirms that! Of course, once we saw what the final product looked like, we were over the moon and thrilled to be able to offer this up through our store. This is a one-of-a-kind Suhr and surely won't last long. The sleek elliptical neck profile, balanced asymmetrical body, and innovative neck heel deliver unmatched playability and comfort. The stunning Flame Maple top is available in a variety of transparent finishes that have been developed to enhance its natural beauty. This Modern Carve Top features a quarter-sawn Maple neck with Pau Ferro fingerboard. The neck is finished with our satin acrylic urethane, which provides the smooth feel of natural wood as well as protection from moisture. The Suhr Modern is equipped with our Modern Elliptical neck profile. Rolled edges and a 10-14” compound fingerboard radius offers a substantial, yet comfortable shape. Stainless steel frets offer silky smooth bending and long-lasting playability. Every Suhr receives a PLEK fret dress, ensuring the best possible string action, playability and intonation. The sculpted heel of the Modern allows for easy access to all 24 frets. For optimum tone and stability, the neck joint must not be too tight or too loose, therefore all of our neck pockets are precisely fitted by hand, by expert craftsmen. The Modern shape has a unique asymmetrical body that balances superbly with the extended 24-fret neck. Fast, sleek and sexy looking, the Modern shape will feel right at home to players who were weaned on the popular and innovative shapes that came into vogue in the 80’s.
