Model: SG Special

Greco did a pretty good job (not unusual) creating an early 60's Gibson SG Special. I would call this a transitional period model as far as Greco models are concerned. It has a 1981 serial number. The 1981 catalog features this model in cherry finish only as the SS500. The 1982 Mint Collection catalog features this model in cherry and white as the SS63-50. As you can see in the pics, this one has the MC truss rod cover but not the open "O" logo. The logo on this one is MOP. It has fret edge binding too. Its finish has yellowed a bit. I think it is poly - applied fairly thin. Both pickups read 7.1 ohm. Weighs in at 6.15 lbs. The intonation is very good. Neck is typical "slim taper" for the early 60's Gibson; .804" at 1st fret, .919 at 11th fret. Guitar is in fair to good condition cosmetically with nicks and scrapes, and well as some chips in the finish. Do not expect a "new old stock" guitar. The bridge pickup volume knob is missing original cover that says "volume". Comes with non-original hard case. Contiguous USA sales only. Ask any questions.
