1987 Cliff Sargent F5 style mandolin. Mr Sargent was a first generation Bluegrasser and incredible craftsman who filled an existing void in the 70 and 80's by building a professional quality mandolin based upon the highly regarded Gibson Lloyd Loar era F5 mandolin. This mandolin was restored around 2004-2005. The story of its restoration is available in a thread online at Mandolin Cafe and offers great insight to this mandolin and its builder. This mandolin has " The Gibson" Fern inlay on the headstock as was commonly done in this period as a tribute to Gibson, not deception. Cliff Sargent's signature on the inside of the top. Comes with the vintage Superior HSC with cover. The instrument needs nothing. If you have questions please feel free.
