Hamer was one of the early 'boutique' guitar makers, making versions of, and often improving on, popular versions of the same guitar by other makers. The T 51 was Hamer's version of Fender's 'Telecaster', but with slightly better build features/hardware - at least in my estimation. I bought this guitar new in 1994 and played it on and off for a few years before it went mostly into storage along with many other of my guitars. Hamer made this guitar from 1993 - 1997 when the company was sold to Kamen Musical Instruments, whereupon it ceased production. This is now a fairly rare instrument to come up for auction. The overall condition of this guitar is excellent, with a few minor dings picked up along the way, and it still plays beautifully. I made a few modifications along the way to improve its sound, etc. I changed the tuners from the original Sperzels to these graduated-post height, locking Sperzel tuners. Because of the 'graduated' heights, I no longer needed the string retaining bar from the original set-up (you can still see the screw holes in the head-stock). I've included a replacement string retaining bar if the new owner wishes to re-install it. I also changed out the original neck pick-up (which I always considered delivered a sound that was a little too 'thin' for my ears) and put in a Bare Knuckles (custom pick-up maker out of England - excellent pick-ups) Tele neck position pick-up that rounded out the sound and delivers more of a 'Hendrixy' sound - at least to my ears. I've included the original neck pick-up in the case if the new owner wishes to re-install it in place of the Bare Knuckles. Everything else is original, along with the case. This guitar plays better than most Tele's, the action is low and fast, the neck has a great feel which most hands will find perfect, the sound is rounded and full, and this is, in general, a great guitar. This guitar has been well kept, and has lived in its case mostly undisturbed for the last decade or two. I pulled this guitar out the other day to check everything out and to make sure it played well - which it does. Like many of us, I think, once I started playing this guitar again, I wondered why I wanted to sell it, but I make guitars myself, and I think it's time for this to go into capable new hands. I am willing to sell this internationally. The buyer will pay all boxing/shipping costs (UPS freight as applicable), and in the case of an international sale, all customs duties and related costs as well. I will advise and get quotes prior to shipping based on destination. Feel free to ask any questions you may have, and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability, but also check out Hamer owner/user sites for more info. I accept payment through PayPal.
