NOTE this is also for sale locally cheaper on Los Angeles C L, if it does sell there first i will be taking down this ad.What i have here is a 2011 Gibson Les Paul studio deluxe 50s. If you look into my inventory you will see i concurrently am selling about 25 guitars at a time. Some very high end. This guitar is unique in that it is and was my personal guitar for the last five years.I've sold plenty of Standards, I have a 5500$ Custom shop up for sale to. But the reason i kept this one all these years is because i could not justify the price of something that was marginally if at all better than this guitar. It's the best value gibson has ever made and they even admit that if you read the review on their site. There are a few things about it that make it a great guitar. * Book matched top* Quartersawn ( not flatsawn) Neck* Baked maple fretboard ( adds clarity to the tone)* High gloss nitrocellulose finish ( not poly)* Upgraded Bare knuckle Riff Raff hand wound bridge pickup
Good luck finding anything like that for under a grand made by any brand, but especially made by Gibson. This is basically a budget version of a R8 historic. It sounds nothing like the regular Lp studio's. And i never ever considered keeping any of the Lp traditionals i have sold over the years. Their have been some standards that i considered keeping in lieu of this, But i always came back to it so it's been a long time till i was ready to sell it. And yes the only reason i am selling is i am finally pulling the trigger on a Custom shop VOS historic model. That is the level of guitar you have to go to to make it a worthwhile leap in quality. These were made in small batches as an exclusive factory run for Guitar Center. The regular Deluxe studio's came after and are again not quite what these were. It just has better wood period. See pics for condition. There is only very light playwear on it, and i am blessed with what is known as a light touch so the frets have hardly any wear on them at all. I am matching it with a 2015 Gibson hard case. The art deco Jetsons style one that they put out that year. Now as for the tone. There is a fine line between warmth and dullness. And something i found with many of the LP's i have come across is some of them need more bite and tighter more focused high end to them. They sound "loose" to me. Really good ones don't have that problem. This one has perfect treble tone to it while still sounding Big, three dimensional, smooth and warm. I attribute some of this to the maple fretboard. That really works on a Les Paul, and it is only for tradition's sake that you do not see more alternative and exotic woods on LP fretboards.
The bridge pickup upgrade is a handwound UK made BKP Riff Raff. Jimmy Page actually had the owner of BKP Tim Mills install a Riff Raff into his number one guitar, a 1959 original Les Paul, a guitar worth about a quarter million dollars. So i guess if it's good enough for Jimmy it is good enough for you and I. It's a PAF scatterwound style pickup that is wound to have a stronger midrange bite. So it's more of a rockers PAF. This pickup even does metal and was also used on Iced Earth recordings as well. So there is a lot of great feedback on BKP Riff Raff's. So that's the story on this one. This is the longest i have ever kept a guitar without selling it. So i hope it goes to a good home :DShips in it's hardcase via Fedex, fully insured. Thanks for reading.!
