For auction is an Origninal USA Made Gibson Les Paul (TV MODEL) The guitar was made in Gibsons Nashville Plant, TN, USA in 1998, Production Number: 6194 A Real once in a lifetime treat/chance for any fan of the Futureheads This is it, Barrys No.1 This guitar was orignally purchased by Barry Hyde of the Futureheads and still belongs to him. This was Barrys main live guitar for the majority of the futureheads carear and was also used in the studio on many futureheads albums. You will see the No. 1written on the back of the headstock in perment marker (see photograps) which denoted its use as no, 1 guitar in barrys toruing flightcase of guitars. This number can be removed from the headstock with pure alcahol, However that would affect the guitars providence therefore I will leave that up to the new owner. Sadly the Futureheads no longer have to time to play together as a band, as new jobs and new family (children) have become more important to various members of the band. Therfore I am simply selling this guitar on behalf of Barry as his freind as Barry does not have an Ebay account. This guitar just does not get played anymore, and Barry is not a centmental type of guy therfore its time for this instrumet to go to another home. Hopefully someone that will use it as much or as well as Barry Did. The guitar shows various signs of age. e.g slight paint ageing related cracks on the head stock a typical thing of gibsons this age, only noticeable on close inspection (see photos) aswell as various scratches all small and unoticable. The worst marks are small chips on the edge of the rear of the guitar where small bits of the paintwork have chipped of through use. (see last Photograh) there are two small black scuff marks, again on the rear of the neck near the neck joint. these are simply from use, most likley from Barrys shirt buttons. these marks look like they can be removed but again I will lave that to the owners decision. Everything on the guitar is original gibson spec, including the original vintage style p90 dog ear pickup. which I must say is the selling point of this guitar as its sounds fantastic.... its not your typical Les paul humbucker but it has a certain specail high gain single coil type pickup tone going on which really sings. Especially through an AC30, which is the amp barry used to play it through before moving to a newer feder deluxe. Also original vintage gibson deluxe tuners whith bone white pegs. The only thing that is not original on this guitar is the Headstock nut. the original plastic nut has been replaced with a custom made solid Brass nut. This is somthing that Barry has his guitar tech do to all of his guitars has he preffered the additional sustain that is afforded from the addion of brass to the headstock. It definatley has a brighter sound wit slighlty more sustain than uasual. A chord just takes that little bit longer to ring out. Just makes it sound a bit more thrashy and punkier if you will. Apart from the mentioned marks, the guitar is in very good sructural condition. It is an extremley solid guitar with a one piece hardwood body with a flat top. there is no actual neck joint or plate as the entire guiatar was hand crafted out of one piece of wood. Like I said this guitar very sturdy and solid, affectionatley know by fender luthiers as ''The Slab'' Im pretty sure you could put this thing under a bus and it would survie. I mean its already survived 25 years plus years of playing. The Guitar has recently been set up by a local Sunderland based luthier.The frets are in very good condition considering the guitars history and only have slight wear on the top few frets. There is still plenty of life in the frets and the guitar plays in tune without buzzing therefore the frets have simply been leveled and polished instead of being completely replaced.It has been re strung with a new set of Di addario gauge 12. standard set, which was Barry's proffered set for the guitar. Barry says the guitar was bought second hand and never had its original gibson case and has always lived in Barrys very large touring flight case with the futureheads other guitars. Therefore the guitar will be shipped inside a decent padded guitar gig bag. and securley packed inside cardbord to make sure that it is not damaged in transit. Shippping will be via insured & tracked courier in order to protect both the buyer and seller. I will not accept returns based on statitory rights, so unless the guitar is blown up or lost by the courier you will not be getting a refund. Be sure you are prepared both financially and mentally to purchase what you are looking at before placing a bid. Please No time wasters.This is a serious guitar for a seious player, fan or collector. Local collection is also possible for cash in hand sale of the guitar only. It is possible on special request for me to have the guitar signed by Barry as well as a photograph of him signing it for the winnig buyer. however this is request is reserved for buy it now buyers only. (My mistake, clearly my maths is not that good and it was late at night when i wrote this auction)However since the begging of this auction Barry has since given to me a custom made flight case for the guitar which he has only just discovered in storage.
This case is an extremley large and hefty proffesional world touring style hardcase that has been custom cut to fit the guitar exactly which is probably worth between £150-200 on its own It goes without saying that this case will now be included with the sale of the guitar as it only adds to the presidence of the guitars history as a Futureheads guitar.However due to the additinal size and weight of the guitar now in its case this will unfrtunatley increase the cost of shipping. Therefore collection of the guitar is definatley recommended unless you are willing to pay the additional shipping cost The guitar will be vey well protected though!PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS OF ROADCASE
