Here we have one of the last Fenders to come out of the plant before the fateful CBS takeover (fiscal year starting on April 15th 1966).
Per the neck date it reads 9APR66, and it shows. This rockin' little guitar features the original Deluxe Kluson tuners, full Rosewood fingerboard with 7.5" radius, true vintage Fender Tortoiseshell pick guard, full original copper plate shielding, and even the all original pickup, pots, wiring, bridge, saddles and nut. All original except for the killer "Starman" emblem, popularized by the band Rush. What sets this guitar apart from others? It bears a one-off, impeccably hand-painted design of the Rush Starman emblem, painted in the early 80's. So if you are a fan you will love this. If you're not a Rush fan you may still appreciate the way Starman is reaching into the future, especially on this guitar, as if they are made for each other. This guitar was way before it's time, and it's ability to survive this long and still rock right out of its best up old case is simply a testament to that. The scale length is 22.5", and is one of the FASTEST guitars I have ever played. Tonality and control is perfect. Holding a tune is easy. PERFECT AAA++ Fender quality here. The way Leo intended it. Case has newer springs, snaps, and some newer tolex leather in spots. It's a 50+ year old case that still does its job perfectly. You can gig with this one! All in all, a rare masterpiece that allows one to not only rock, but also dive right into that Old Fender Mojo that you can only find in a true vintage piece. As with all my other auctions, fast, free shipping is included in the price! I'm not going to profit off of packaging. Thanks for looking!
