Body and Neck
The Les Paul Recording is crafted in the image of the original Les Paul Standard, with a solid mahogany back (featuring traditional weight relief for enhanced resonance and a lighter strapped-on feel) and a carved Grade-AA figured maple top. It has a glued-in mahogany neck with a ’60s Slim Taper™ profile, rosewood fingerboard with 22 cryogenic-treated frets for long life, and traditional trapezoid inlays.
Pickups and Electronics
A pair of brand new pickups pay tribute to the originals, but with improved tone and performance. They offer a broad frequency response and hum-free performance, with a switchable “Fat Tap” setting for thick single-coil tones. Additional switches provide reverse-phase and Low-Z ground lift options, and feed the traditional complement of independent volume and tone controls with a three-way selector switch. A high-quality Jensen audio transformer converts the signal to a balanced low-impedance output for direct-to-DAW recording, while a second, High-Z output jack accommodates traditional guitar amps.
