This handcrafted viola is a full size, 16.5". It was originally purchased from Michael Becker Fine Violins in 2002 and has been maintained in playing condition ever since.The viola has a one piece back made from quarter cut maple. It has a curl of medium width and intensity, slanting downward from left to right.The bow is a brown octagonal pernambuco stick, mounted with a nickel and ebony frog. The bow is braided and has the inscription "D Silveira" on it. Bow needs minor cleaning and a rehair.According to a February 11, 2017 appraisal by the craftsman himself, the viola is worth $3,500 and the bow between $700 and $800. Asking price for instrument and bow together is $3,500.Please contact me if you would like to arrange to play the instrument. I am in the Chicago area (western suburbs).
