This is my Gibson Les Paul Custom. I purchased it used from Hewgley’s Music Shop in Nashville, I believe in 1974. Best we can tell it is a 1971 or 1972 model. Serial #963042. It is a four piece body (2 layers of Mahogany with a thin piece of Maple in between, then a carved Maple top) three-piece neck with volute. Cherry Sunburst finish with two humbucking pickups. The bridge has been changed to a Locktone Tune-O-Matic (for very precise tuning) and the knobs to Gibson Speed knobs; though the original parts and extras along with the standard cream Gibson pick guard and hardshell case are included with the guitar. 7-ply binding on the body; bound Ebony fretboard, bound peghead; gold-plated parts and tuning machines; truss-rod cover engraved “Les Paul Custom”, fretboard has pearl block inlay; peghead has the 5-piece split diamond inlay. Only minor belt buckle scratches on the back and 2 very small dents in the top. At one point in time I discovered a hairline crack in back of the peghead. Cotten Music in Nashville judged it to be inconsequential and totally stable; nonetheless I elected to have them expertly repair and clean it up a bit. Also, the previous owner was was left handed and had a strap button installed in the cutaway (since removed). Since I’ve owned it, it has only been played in the studio. Recently serviced with fresh setup at Cotten Music as well. This is a beautiful guitar, is in great condition for its age, plays and sounds great and keeps good tune! Thank you.
