Diese bestimmte Steve Gadd Messing Kessel Snare Drum wurde von mir seit dem Moment, wo ich sie gekauft habe, geliebt. Ich habe sie in Top Zustand gehalten, wie man von den Fotos sehen kann, und habe sie nur im Kontext mit Musik gespielt, wofür ihre Töne gemacht sind, um ihr gutes Aussehen zu erhalten. Es gab einige Messing Snare Drums, die ich gespielt habe, von einigen verschiedenen Herstellern, aber diese behält so eine Gleichmäßigkeit und Ausdruck von leichten und stärkeren Schlägen, dass ich sie persönlich unschlagbar finde. Man kann diese Trommel sehr leicht auf eine kleine Vielfalt von Tönen stimmen und findet immer noch alle angenehm fürs Ohr. Die Projektion ist laut, aber nicht aufdringlich mit einem durchdringenden Aspekt, der gut in eine Band oder ein Konzert passt. Als jemand, der sowohl Marching Drums als auch Konzerttrommeln gespielt hat, habe ich diese Trommel als eine gute Antwort darauf gefunden, etwas mit einer dynamischen Klarheit zu finden. Jeder Gadd Fan würde schon den Ton, den diese Trommel zu bieten hat, verstehen, aber auch wenn er keiner ist, dann spricht die Yamaha Messing Qualität in Verbindung mit den Spezifikationen einer der besten und vielseitigsten Schlagzeuger, die je gelebt haben, für sich selbst und würde jedem ernsten Spieler zu Gute kommen. I have kept it in top condition, as one can see from the photos, and have only played within contexts of music for which its tones made sense in order to preserve its good looks. There have been several other brass snare drums which I have played from a variety of companies, but this particular one holds such an evenness and expression of light and heavy strokes that I find it, personally, unmatched. One can easily tune this drum to a small variety of tones and still find them all pleasant to the ear. The projection is loud, but not overbearing with a “cut-through the middle” aspect that works well in a band or concert setting. As one who has played marching and concert snare, I have found this drum to be a good answer for finding dynamic clarity. Any Gadd fan would already understand the tone that this drum offers, but even if one is not the Yamaha steel quality combined with the specifications of one of the top and most versatile drummers that has ever lived speaks for itself and would benefit any serious player.
