SUPER SHAPE AND PERFECT WORKING ORDER BEAUTIFUL DEEP WINE/PURPLE FINISH You will be hard pressed to find another Gibson Marauder in such great condition   Comes with a BRAND NEW (Non-Original) Hard-shell case DETAILS: The underdog of the Gibson family, the Marauder came into being while Gibson (Norlin) was trying to break into Fender's single-coil-bolt-on market. Unfortunately, these decidedly "un-Gibson" design choices were the precise reason most people didn't buy the guitar. Even with that black spot surrounding its birth, the Marauder is actually a pretty cool guitar. It's quirky for sure, but beneath that mutt of a face lurks a tone machine that is intensely tweakable and sounds like nothing else on the market!One can easily see that this guitar was built with flash in mind, from the Flying V headstock to the epoxy-sealed pickups and sweeping pick guard. Believe it or not, there are plenty of useable and lovable tones to be had here, and frankly this guitar rivals the tone of some custom Telecasters I’ve played over the years. Starting with the neck, this guitar (obviously) sports a pointy 'stock with Gibson sealed tuners, a rosewood fretboard accented by MOP dots and maple neck feels just amazing under the hand. There's no sticky finish to get caught on, making this guitar a real joy to play. Indeed the bolt-on neck is an odd feature for a guitar of such provenance, but rest assured that tuning stability is spot-on and true. The typically low Gibson frets have plenty of life left and show hardly signs of having been played as much as the rest of the guitar. Action is low and slinky, begging to be played. As for the mahogany body, it is in simply wonderful shape for a guitar of this vintage. There are only a few minor/small blemishes around the perimeter of the guitar and a few surface blems on the front and back (please see the photographs for more detail). This guitar was rarely played and has been in two different hard-shell cases for the majority of its life. This guitar looks stunning. It has such a cool retro vibe.  It is most definitely the cleanest example of a Gibson Marauder I have ever seen. I honestly do not think you will find one in better condition than this one.The hardware is chrome and in great shape overall. There's no oxidation to speak of other than a slight bit on the neck plate, which will probably buff out with a little elbow grease and some flitz polish. The bridge is gorgeous and adjusts smoothly. The stop bar is set low into the body, and provides enough string length for those of us that enjoy behind-the-bridge adventures! Bill Lawrence designed pickups are fantastic, with punch and girth to spare. The bridge unit can sound slightly thin at first play, but after giving it a minute to forget that it's a Gibson, it'll sound just right. The neck unit on the other hand sounds HUGE. Controls work perfectly and are without defect.
