Gibson SG R1 1980 Black Moog ElectronicsOne of the rarest SG's ever produced, the R1 is similar to RD guitars of the day with Moog designed active electronics. The toggle closest to the bridge is the 3-way pickup selector switch and the other is the on/off for the boost. The active boost not only gets you some amazing clean tones but it also loves pushing an amp over the top when you've got it cranked to 10. The look is as mean as they come it's all black finished mahogany body and neck and ebony fingerboard. This one has seen some action over the years so there is wear in the paint but it remains all original with no break, no mods, no repairs. It's a little heavier than a normal SG but still decent guitar weight at 8.4 lbs. Decent sized neck, a very solid medium C shape and 1-11/16" wide at the nut. After appearing in the catalog as the R1, the name was changed to SG Artist, but only a combined 200 or so guitars were ever built.
