Straight from our brass (and silver) instrument repair shop, our USED horns are brought back to life...All major dents are removed, joints re-soldered (if needed), patches repaired (if necessary) and the slides reworked. Our horns may be buffed, but all are hand polished to a good shine and are in good playable condition. For the collector who is looking for an instrument; we try to keep the original parts whenever possible; if the playability is good, we feel it should be left to the buyer's discretion to replace parts as desired. We are proud to offer this refurbished instrument for sale. We have tried to describe it as it is, and are happy to answer any questions asked. #2/2017Up for sale is a 1941 FE Olds & Son Super Tenor Trombone-made in Los Angeles Calif, USA. The horn has serial # 136xx. It is made of bell bronze and nickel silver. There are various minor dings and blemishes throughout and fine scratching. There is also light pitting at the grips. The tone ring is beautifully hand-engraved, as were the tone rings from Pre-WW11. The slide action is very good and the inner slides are fluted. The stockings are in excellent shape and there is excellent compression. This instrument is not lacquered; therefore, this instrument may have to be polished periodically (we recommend using Weiman METAL Polish). This trombone comes with an Olds #3 mouthpiece and an original used case. The slide bore is .485/.500 and the bell flare is 7". The Super Olds line of trombones was introduced in about 1932 and soon became legendary...a great jazz horn, but able to play ballads and concert. This horn is enjoyable to play, with excellent intonation. There is fast response and tons of power...I like it very much!
