1921 Conn 80A Victor New Wonder Bb/A cornet with complete quick change mechanism. 2 1/2 bore. Serial #175993*. Extremely well preserved and incredible player owned by major USA orchestral principal trumpeter. Used to record the 1911 Stravinsky Petrouchka solo cornet part with the Seattle Symphony on a Delos CD and on a solo CD with harp as well as many cornet parts in the orchestra. This instrument has a huge dark sound and is suited for a powerful symphony orchestra. The star (*) after the serial number denotes the bell is made with Gold Brass which has a higher content of copper... no doubt the reason this cornet has such a rich and robust sound!Bob Malone did all of the custom work on this cornet. The valves are tight and fast and the quick throw mechanism from Bb to A is complete and in perfect working condition. A custom 3rd slide saddle was installed and the Bach pinky hook was added. Some of the silver from valve casing is worn where the left hand touches. The instrument has never been dropped and there have never been any major repairs. Mute has a small dent from drop damage.Included are the original case, 2 sets of slides for low and high pitch, original mute, original screw driver for maintaining quick throw mechanism and valve spring tensioning screws, original swab pull and tub of grease (from 1921!).Quick throw mechanism is all there and works perfectly between Bb and A. Instrument plays as well in Bb as it does in A.There is no red-rot, no corrosion. This instrument has been meticulously maintained and is fully serviced and ready to play. If there are any questions I'd be happy to answer them and send more photos upon request.Outside of continental USA, global shipping rates apply
