Up for sale, a 1975 Gibson Les Paul Custom in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This is a great Les Paul for a player looking for a vintage piece that has great tone woods, a resonant and well balanced body, and an array of sounds that are firmly in the classic "T Top" camp. Aside from a clean refret and new bone nut, the guitar is 100% original with original patent sticker humbuckers and a vibrant Wine Red nitro lacquer finish. The bridge pickup has clarity, power, and growl, while the neck position humbucker is a bit smoother and rounder, while retaining those rich harmonics and a nice focused sound. Weighing in at 10lbs 10oz, this Les Paul has the kind of punch and note attack that those few extra ounces provide, and it balances well on a strap too. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've dialed in this Custom with 10-46 strings, solid intonation, and comfortable action. The three-piece maple neck has a C profile that borders on the more slender side of things, while still having good shoulders and gaining a bit more depth as you move into the higher registers of the fretboard. The nut has the traditional 1 11/16" width, and the ebony fretboard has been refretted with medium jumbo fretwire that has similar width to the original frets, but with a bit more height and crown. The frets are currently in fantastic shape, with only a hint of wear beneath the plain strings down near the nut, and virtually no wear up the neck. The action is low and consistent, with no buzzing or dead spots, and the neck is very straight with a responsive truss rod. A hand carved bone nut has been installed to replace the original plastic nut, and there's a noticeable improvement in resonance, sustain, and string to string balance with a bone nut. The headstock sports a set of original gold Gibson-branded Schaller tuning machines as well as the traditional Gibson pearloid logo and split diamond inlay. A different set of Schallers was installed on this guitar at one point in its life, as evidenced by singular tiny screw holes beneath each gear, but the original tuners are now back on the guitar and working as intended. All of the electronics work as they should, and the wiring harness features the original CTS pots which date to the 46th week of 1975. One of the last guitars to feature patent sticker T Tops, the pickup baseplates retain both original stickers, with original covers and untouched solder joints. The guitar features its original Nashville bridge, stopbar tailpiece, reflector cap knobs, and pickup rings, while the strap buttons are newer gold parts. Consistent with honest use, there's some aging to the gold plating on the hardware, as well as some small nicks on the three-piece carved maple top and assorted tiny dings and scuffs on the sides and back of the instrument. Other cosmetic wear of note includes targeted buckle rash on the back near the bass side waist and some wear through the finish down to the bare maple on the edges of the neck profile. This guitar is structurally sound with no breaks or repairs, and the Wine Red nitro lacquer is 100% original with no touchups or overspray. The original black tolex Gibson hardshell case is included. This case retains its original latches and handle, as well as the silver "Gibson" silkscreen logo on the exterior.
