This is a Gibson Les Paul Smartwood ''Ambay Guasu” Limited Edition guitar whose only owner is Cassandra Wilson. Not to be mistaken for the cheaper Smartwood studio models or the later 2002 models with the green leaf truss cover. Highly collectable, these guitars are rare and hard to find. Overall in excellent condition, built in 1998 at the Nashville facility. Natural Finish. Pickup/Control Layout: 2 humbuckers/ 2 volume, 2 tone/ 3 way selector switch. Features: Gold hardware. This guitar comes with a Hiscox Liteflite case and will be autographed upon request. The Gibson Les Paul Smartwood Series guitars are made from wood certified by the Rainforest Alliance. While the back and the neck are made from mahogany, the carved top of each of the six models in the SmartWood line featured tops made from a different but equally stunning wood: Curupay has a deep chocolate-walnut richness; Peroba recalls the orangey hue of the old pine ceiling beam; Banara has a golden, banana-like glow; Ambay Guasu boasts the even lightness of maple; Taperyva Guasu is reminiscent of a sun-bleached rosewood, and Chancharana is a deep, warm-brown russet. The fretboards are all made from Curupay harvested from forests certified in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The mahogany used in the construction of this model is from similarly certified forests.About the Hiscox Liteflite Guitar CaseEstablished in 1985, Hiscox Cases Ltd. is the brainchild of Brynn Hiscox, a professional guitar maker. Being acutely aware of the lack of quality cases on the market, he used his engineering background to design a case that stood up to his exacting requirements. Brynn's customers demanded cases that had higher protection but with less weight. And so the Hiscox family of instrument cases was born.Utilizing a proprietary polyurethane injection molding system, superior shell materials, and best-in-class hardware, Hiscox cases provide the best thermal protection, crush resistance and puncture resistance of any case in its weight or price range. Hiscox Artist Series Guitar cases are beautifully styled and incredibly rugged with padded crushed velour interior and integrated accessory compartment. The instrument sits on strategically placed foam cushions to create the ultimate in lightweight protection.
