Here we have one of the coolest Martin D-45s out there! This one features Brazilian rosewood back and sides and a sunburst finish based on a Gibson burst! This guitar was custom ordered back in 1984 and the buyer requested that Martin mimic the finish of a Gibson sunburst that he loved. Gibson was the company that began sunbursting guitars in the first place, and they do it extremely well. Martin did a remarkable job copying one of their bursts, and this guitar looks fantastic! The guitar also features a Sitka spruce top, ebony fretboard, ebony bridge, and all the abalone trim and inlays of the 45-style Martins. The Brazilian rosewood featured here is of top quality! This was before the 1991 ban on importation of Brazilian rosewood, so Martin got their choice of the best cuts to use for building this one. They chose well. This guitar is in excellent condition.
