This is a rare beast indeed. It's a natural finish, ash-bodied, maple neck Fender Telecaster Deluxe made in JAPAN, not Mexico, solely for the Japanese market and imported by me when brand new in 2009. I always missed my original 1972 Tele and wanted something as close to it without paying crazy vintage prices. The original MIJ pickups were awful - bog-standard humbuckers inside a "Wide Range" case - so I had it fitted initially with Jason Lollar's Wide Range pickups and then with Mojo's version, which in my view are superior, magnificent and as close as I can imagine to the originals.A few of the original Tele Deluxes left the Fender factory with a Strat trem so I got Oxford's revered Smart Guitars to retrofit a Gotoh and set the whole thing up. It is a stunning guitar now, as good as I ever recall my old one being but at a fraction of the (now absurd) cost. Weight is 8lb 3oz. Neck is slimmish, as these were originally. Fretboard feels like vintage radius, though I cannot find a spec sheet anywhere for these. Certainly not as flat as a 9.5".Plays beautifully. Condition is A1 - fretwear is minimal. It's not quite immaculate but not far off. There are two small patches on the rear where the gloss is dulled a little through wear (impossible to photograph) . . . that's really the only flaw to report. It's one of a kind, this, and I have poured love and great expense into it - the irony being that I now need for various reasons to slim down the collection substantially and am really only playing a couple of Custom Shop Teles. Whatever it sells for will represent a substantial loss, but there we are. Offers will nonetheless need to be close and I am in no hurry. It comes in a faux croc-skin non-Fender hard case. Would prefer cash on collection in Oxford but will post to UK addresses.
